Issue 9 “Style Conventions by Derek Mueller and Jullie Megert
- Everyone writes in different ways. Their word choice, syntax, and ways they use their words, sentences, and paragraphs, all make their writing unique. While each student has a right to write how they want to some extent, but this is a give and take situation. A student still need to meet some standards with their writing while writing at a university, but your words are still your own. While writing for First year writing you will still use MLA formatting, but this doesn’t mean you will not have the opportunity to explore other styles.
- Even considering that I have read this chapter before I feel like the reminder of how our style is precised in a class room is important. It is important to remember that you need to adjust your style to some standards, but you still have the flexibility to personalize to some extent. I didn’t remember the specific extent that style is protected. The punctuation refresher is always a good refresher.
