Grammar: The Way to Better Communication

1. Micheal Chen states that a lot of English grammar is not taught, but passed down by parents or learned logically. This makes It harder for foreigners to learn its grammar. He also makes the argument that native speakers should be taught more grammar in the classroom. He says that the classrooms leave it up to the students to logically conclude the grammar while they move on to more advanced topics. You cannot simply trust how something sounds when learning grammar. This means It needs to be taught more. People also need to take the time to use grammar correctly

2. I agree with him quite a bit on the teaching part. I feel like there are many things grammatically I still do wrong. I feel like high school would have been a good time to cover some of the things that we would need when writing papers in college. I also see an issue to his proposal though. Standards for English grammar differ from place to place. What is acceptable for one place might not be for another, so standardization would be hard.
